Description:

• Main duties will be to conduct routine and non-routine cellular assays to support in vitro assay development.  Attention to detail and ability to run assays consistently is crucial for role.

• Initiates and completes routine in vitro studies in an independent and efficient manner, with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrates the ability to interpret outcome of experiments and to propose appropriate follow-up; troubleshoots effectively.

• Assists in the design and execution of non-routine experiments in the context of cell based in vitro and biochemical assays; conducts exploratory experiments with minimal supervision.

• Applies basic scientific principles for study design, data analysis, and interpretation; performs literature searches and extracts relevant information from published protocols when required

• Independently operates and is responsible for lab equipment; troubleshoots effectively.

• Communicates own work effectively orally and in writing; contributes to writing protocols, procedures, and technical reports; provides input for scientific reports.

• Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics.  Maintains accurate and up to date electronic lab notebooks.

• Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe and compliant manner, maintaining proper records in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and policies.

• Experience in aseptic cell culture techniques and molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, Western Blot, ELISA are required. Experimental design, execution, and interpretation in these areas will be required.

• Experience with in vitro cellular assay execution and assay development are required

• Experience with non-viral in vitro gene delivery techniques and cell-based imaging experience are preferred

• Proven problem-solving ability with aptitude for agile learning style.

• Ability to contribute to the design, execution, and interpretation of non-routine experiments with minimal supervision and assist to the implementation of experimental approaches that contribute to department goals.

• Written and verbal communication skills: concise and accurate reporting of technical data and information

• Proficiency with computers and data analysis software such as Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism.

• Ability and willingness to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Cell culture experience, in vitro gene delivery techniques and experience in functional cellular assays

• Molecular biology techniques; ELISA, RNA isolation, Gene expression (qPCR) western blot, etc.
